Welcome to November 2016 REEDS UPDATE

October month has been full of excitement activity for us at REEDS. Firstly, we received 'Water Warrior' award from INDIA TODAY. We feel happy and honored for being acknowledged for our efforts in addressing the drinking water needs of small and remote habitations/calamities. We are grateful for all the wishes, support and inspiring messages.
Secondly, we feel proud to have led 412 rural populace (103 households), with toilets at home that help them with improved health and a greater sense of dignity through Project Zero Open Defecation [PZOD], one of our current initiatives in furthering 'Clean India Mission'. PZOD is being implemented in partnership with the state government. Together we are reaching out to 4,000 homes and some 20,000 residents in 11 villages in Kuppam and also the assembly constituency of the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, to make them totally open defecation free.
You may see from this video link, the transformational change in behaviors from the age old sanitation practices to what we could bring in among the communities which is perceptible. However, to realize this in scale, there is every need of multi-dimensional support and concerted action. We request you to join in this important task and support us to make a change in the rural lives.
All financial contributions to the pursuit are tax deductible in India and USA. Your donation of Rs. 3,000 or US$ 50 can enhance the quality of life of a rural household!
Another purposeful action that took place during October has been our interaction with Dr. Richard Oliver and his team at American Sentinel University in Denver, who have been our constant mentors and partners in our rural empowerment efforts. They helped us to firm-up the road map for the ensuing international conference - SKILLS2017 being organized jointly by REEDS and LSLSI and scheduled to be held on 16-17 November 2017 in Hyderabad. The theme of SKILLS2017 conference is 'Rural Empowerment for a Digital India'. We greatly appreciate Dr. Richard Oliver, his team and American Sentinel University for their continual support, consenting to associate with SKILLS2017 and above all, for their inspirational motivation to all our efforts.
With warm regards to all our supporters who enable our rural empowerment mission.
