School is important for the cognitive, creative, and social development of children. So is School Sanitation and Hygiene Education, necessary for a safe, secure, and healthy environment for children to learn better and face the challenges of future life, particularly in a world where a child dies every 15 seconds from diseases associated with lack of access to safe drinking water, inadequate sanitation, and poor hygiene.
REEDS is actively involved in Hygiene education campaigns 'Promoting the usage of toilets among schoolchildren, creating awareness on hand washing at right times and sharing tasks among School Children’.
Since 2005, REEDS carried a record number of Hygiene education campaigns promoting the usage of toilets among schoolchildren covering over 300,000 schoolchildren in 7000+ schools in 8 districts of Andhra Pradesh.
UNICEF, Andhra Pradesh State Water, and Sanitation Mission, and respective District Water and Sanitation Committees have sponsored these campaigns.
